CURRENT PROJECTS:
Deploying a Linux, open source based Firewall/Router in our Bed & Breakfast to network internal intranet users with SOHO resources and share a broadband connection. Plan to add email proxy with virus scanning, spam filtering, and improved security IDS service. Will also be implementing a Linux based intranet webserver with a custom research library website.
Developing a commercial bakery billing & production control system in Visual Foxpro.
Installed a network security IDS based on GFI System Integrity Monitor, GFI
Security Event
Log Monitor, Kiwi Syslog Daemon, TDS-3, and Symantec Client Security Suite on a
25 node corporate VPN. Provided technical assistance in a forensic
investigation, formalized and documented the forensic procedures, and worked on
system lockdown. Also created an intranet-based IT Knowledgebase with links to
system documentation, troubleshooting procedures, security database, and links
to vendor support webpages. In the process of developing more secure
configurations of Windows 2000 & XP for better intrusion detection and
faster, more reliable disaster recovery.
Created two Commercial Websites using MS-Frontpage 2000:
see www.outdoorfun.com and
www.basofil.com. In
the process of adding multimedia features, form-based data entry, searchable
databases, and Java-based menuing & news ticker applets to these websites.
Also researching internet marketing strategies, technologies, and metrics for
practical application in SMB internet media markets.
Operating the Outdoor Fun Company and Maggie's Place Bed & Breakfast/Retreat Center, and developing plans for a small, part-time, SOHO computer security, network administration and consulting service.
