Maggie's Place B&B/Retreat Center is located 40 minutes west of the City of Asheville, North Carolina in Haywood County , just a little outside of the town of Waynesville and overlooking the majestic Balsam Mountains and Hyatt Creek Valley - right in The Center of the Best of the Smokies

We are located in the heart of the most scenic outdoor recreation area of the Southern Appalachian/Smoky Mountains.  The Smoky Mountains are the oldest visible mountain range on the surface of the earth, having been thrust upward from the sea floor about 250 million years ago by the collision of the North American and African tectonic plates. Eons of natural erosion have rounded and smoothed the Smokies into their present appearance. The area is so rich in wildlife and forest habitat that it is a designated International Bio-Region and is protected by the US Government and International Treaty. [Geology Fieldnotes] [USGS Project]

If you are looking for unspoiled scenic vistas and numerous forms of Outdoor Recreation, then we have some fun things to do here in the area.

We are a few minutes away from the Maggie Valley and Cataloochee recreation areas, and 45 minutes from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Pisgah National Forest and the Cherokee Indian Reservation & Harrah's Casino.

Waynesville is less than 40 minutes drive from the City of Asheville, which is located in the midst of the Blue Ridge mountains approx. 100 miles east of Knoxville, TN and some 150 miles west of Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Looking Glass area and the Highland-Cashiers area are just west of Asheville.

Hot Springs is to the north.
