Employment    Manager, Information Services, BASF Corporation, Enka, NC – 06/1993 to present

History               Responsible for 550 PC local area network with 10 Netware fileservers, 5 NT servers, 7 VAXs, 2 HP 9000s,

                                and 3 PDP-11s.  Supervised 8 analysts and technicians. Performed database administration on Oracle

and SQL Server databases running on Open/VMS and HP-UX systems. Developed web-based SQL Server applications to support warehousing and logistics operations. Planned site I.S. and telecommunications budget of $1.3M. Project leader for $1.6M network infrastructure upgrade project. Reduced costs through flexible I.S. support model, analysis and elimination of inaccurate telephone charges, and renegotiations of hardware maintenance contracts Member: BASF Corporation Y2K Planning Committee, BASF Corporation Information Services Community Council, BASF Corporation Software Vendor Selection Team. Formed 3 disparate support groups into a unified, focused, and goal-oriented team.

 

 

System Designer, BASF Corporation, Enka, NC – 06/1989 to 06/1993

Designed automatic creation of statistical process control charts, product property charts, and certificates

                                of analysis. Created a data warehouse of process, testing, and shipping data. Analyzed and developed data

flow diagrams for several business processes that exchanged data, but where no “big picture” view existed

previously. Designed site-wide, 12-hub metropolitan area fiberoptic network. Installed Distributed Sniffer

network monitoring system and performed trend analysis and base-lining of network performance.

 

 

System Manager, Tele-Communications, Inc., Englewood, CO – 03/1987 to 06/1989

Responsible for operation of 7-VAX network which controlled 800,000 addressable cable TV converters.

Supervised 3 programmers and 2 operators. Developed software control system for satellite transponder.

Developed software to download DOS programs onto PCs connected to cable TV. Installed broad-band ethernet Netware network.

 

 

Project Leader, Public Systems, Associates, Denver, CO – 11/1983 to 03/1987

Designed and lead development of legislative document database management system used in the states

of Colorado, Louisiana, Alabama, Nevada, West Virginia, and North Carolina. Developed custom

communication interfaces between VAX and IBM, Data General computers. Developed custom

client/server word processing package for creation of daily legislative journals. Performed on-site

installation and training of users. Supervised 3 programmer/analysts.

 

 

Programmer, Denver Research Institute, Denver, CO – 09/1980 to 11/1983

Prototyped ultrasound limb plthysmograph for first space shuttle mission. Designed cascade impactor

data reduction system for EPA. Developed clock driver program for airborne EMF pulse detector.

Developed software for portable X-ray stress analyzer.
