Maggie's Place B&B/Retreat Center is For Sale
The Maggie's Place Partnership has operated The Center for over 8 years, and we are all ready to transition to new creative, spiritually-based projects. Gary has done most of the financial heavy lifting here, and he needs to free up some (or all) of his investment in Maggie's Place in order to continue building his chain of retail stores. Maggie & Alan are especially interested in moving forward with the design & creation of a model sustainable community, which feels like the next step in our spiritual journey. But none of us can move forward without a change in our current partnership arrangements and the ongoing costs of operating The Center.

So, we are in the process of engaging Special Finds as our broker to facilitate a sale of The Center to the right party. Prospective buyers need to realize that this place is currently acting as a relocation center, with both suites rented to people in transition. The Center has had several incarnations as a home for young adults with learning challenges, a spiritual center & homebase for the "Spirit in the Smokies" magazine, and now the Maggie's Place B&B/Retreat Center. So it is important to us that the new owners realize that this property has a long history of spiritual service that is important to consider both during their tenure and afterwards, when they eventually pass it on. We are all only caretakers who are merely passing through this world - we own nothing, in reality.
Maggie's Place is just outside the Waynesville City Limit, and only 0.3 miles from Route 23/74, so it is ideally suited for people who need to get out & about as efficiently as possible. Our guests have always appreciated the ease with which they could get on the road and tour the beautiful Smokies. We have a large parking lot with plenty of parking spaces, so handling guests and/or residents is no problem. The grounds have been developed during our stewardship here, but there are several unfinished improvements that need some cash & care in order to complete them. These include:

Maggie & I would be happy to assist the new owners with making a transition into their new life here. We have observed that there are many people who are looking for a simpler, more earth-centered, more service-oriented lifestyle, and some are choosing to move into the Lower Appalachians where land is more affordable, taxes are lower, and people tend to be a bit more neighborly. We believe that the movement towards Sustainable Lifestyles is really taking root here in the Smokies, and this is a good time to be building some green equity in one's future.
If this sounds like something that is appealing to you, then please give Maggie's Place a call at 828-452-9609 and we would be happy to talk with you.
Best wishes,
Alan, Maggie and Gary
