If you are coming
from flatland, then you are about to visit an awesome 3D
landscape that extends up into the clouds. The Smoky Mountains
are the oldest visible mountains in the world, having been
thrust upward by the collision of the North American and African
tectonic plates over 250 million years ago. The mountains have
been sculptured and rounded into their present form by eons of
rain, snow, wind, and the relentless forces of erosion.
