The Retreat House
The Retreat House is a spacious 37ft diameter Deltec dome with two
attached wings, housing a full commercial kitchen, heating plant, and
five guest bedrooms, each with a full bath, sleeping up to 12 people.
The dome is self-supporting so there are no obstructing columns inside,
thereby creating a large, open, carpeted space that be utilized in myriad
configurations. Folding chairs and tables are provided, to be used as
needed.
The Spring House
The rustic Spring House, named for a nearby mountain spring, can house
up to 5 additional guests. There is no attached bathroom so spring house
guests use the facilities located in the lower level of the main house,
a short walk away. A sleeping loft is accessed via a wooden staircase
located just inside the entrance. |

The Biodome
Greenhouse
The Biodome Greenhouse is a
marvel of human technical engineering and nature's botanical magic. The
32 ft. diameter glass and aluminum dome provides the perfect year-round
environment for all sorts of organically grown plants, including
flowers, vegetables, herbs, tubers, sprouts, and berries of all kinds.
In the cold, dreary days of fall and winter, it is especially delightful
to walk down to the Biodome and step into what feels like a tropical
rainforest still green with living plants.
The Main House
The Main House is a rustic,
contemporary, farm house with 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths that's mostly
on 1 level, though there is a workshop, food pantry, spa and laundry
room in the ground level basement. This is where the owner/manager and
family lives while operating the retreat facilities. The house is
well-insulated and can be kept quite comfortable in North Carolina's
short, mild winters.
The Garage

The Garage is a rustic, 2
car garage with a small workshop for maintaining vehicles, farm
equipment, the organic gardens, and the entire building complex. Two
large, sliding doors provide easy access to the garage portion for any
vehicles or equipment requiring rountine maintenance.
The Organic Gardens
Through the years, we have
worked in our raised-bed gardens to increase the fertility and mineral
content of the soil, to grow healthy plants and sweet produce. We
cultivate concord grapes, apples, pears, blueberries, raspberries,
cherries, plums, persimmons, chard, kale, lettuce, beets, tomatoes,
peas, cucumbers, basil, parsley, rosemary and more.
