PC/LAN Security:
"In a recent end-user security
audit performed by Earthlink and Webroot, fully one in three desktop computers
had some kind of malware, a virus or trojan, infecting the operating system.
Since today's malware is sophisticated enough to present a hacker with a remote
control console over the infected computer, a large powerful underground network
has been created to forcibly compromise computer systems & networks, capture
sensitive personal & financial information, and log user keystrokes for the
obtaining of confidential passwords and access codes. In the last few years,
over 26 million Americans have been the victim of identity theft: the use of
illegally obtained personal information to commit financial fraud by
impersonation."
~Alan J. McRae,

There is a war going on in cyberspace every day for control of all computers connected to public networks, and the lack of user security preparedness & training is causing many people & organizations to become victims of or unwilling accomplices to this struggle. If this trend of victimization continues, consumers will lose confidence in the internet as a commercial medium, and a whole new wave of critical market adjustments will be created.
It is, therefore, of the utmost importance that all computer users receive basic training in "security best practices", that all host computers be locked down with the latest security patches and monitored for unauthorized changes, and that all private networks be secured both at the internet gateway and at all server access points. It is only through these Draconian measures that society, as a whole, will have the opportunity to employ the WWW as a trusted, reliable communications network.
Security Services:
|
Security |
Using a variety of malware detection tools to determine if a host computer is infected, and if so, by what agent. |
|
Malware |
Executing a detailed sequence of malware removal procedures and then verifying that the agent has been successfully removed. |
|
Security |
Performing an exhaustive series of security procedures to patch the operating system & application software, harden all security-related configuration parameters, install a personal firewall & anti-virus software suite, install a file integrity checker, and then perform a vulnerability assessment to verify the highest possible state of security lockdown has been achieved. |
|
Security |
Employ an IDS (Intrusion Detection System) to proactively monitor a personal computer and/or private network for attempted security intrusions. |
|
Emergency |
Provide a rapid response to a system crash or operational error, and assess the nature of the problem to determine a fast technical resolution. Also, to isolate the computer if a malware infection is suspected to effect containment. |
|
Forensics |
The art & science of identifying what malware was installed, how it was installed, what vulnerability was exploited, and who might have initiated the attack. |
|
Disaster Recovery |
The flawless execution of a Business Continuity Plan after a catastrophic breakdown of a computer system. A successful disaster recovery is best assured by creating and executing a daily Disaster Recovery Plan that images all hosts and backs up all critical business data on a periodic basis. |
