Shining Rock Wilderness Adventure

In the distance, we see the white crystal peak at the top of Shining Rock Mountain. Embedded in a garland of emerald spruce trees, this mountain top is one of
the rarest beauties in the Smoky Mountains.

We start our hike from the Blue Ridge Parkway beginning on the
Mountain-to-Sea Trail and then follow the Art Loeb Trail at an elevation
where the scenery turns into a kind only seen thousands of miles north in Canada.

We cross many crystal clear flowing streams whose source is only a few feet above us, making them among the cleanest water flows in America. After a night spent on the mountain top (and climbing on the white crystal), we return via Black Balsam Knob with more magnificent views of the valleys and peaks.
